Mrs. K's Koffee Shop & Diner
When Constantine Seiss opened his diner in 1962, people thought he'd made a huge mistake. Back then, the neighborhood was pretty desolate, and drumming up business was going to be a challenge. But Constantine had faith, and he was right. Soon the Independence Mall opened—since renamed Constitution Place—and the entire area underwent a dramatic revitalization; the diner was booming.
Since that time, little else has changed about Mrs. K's. Visitors can still get all-day breakfast and other diner-style classics, including philly cheesesteaks, scrapple, chipped beef, and burgers. The service is as friendly as ever, and decorative touches—such as the U-shaped counter and stool seating, complete with hat hooks—make regulars feel like 1962–2015 was just one giant daydream.
