Napoleon and Josephine
Not many people can say they've dined with the emperor and empress of France. Guests of Napoleon and Josephine, however, are certain to spot the namesake figures: their portraits adorn the bistro's red walls, and surround its tables and booths.
But Napoleon isn't the only Corsican native at the restaurant. The other, Chef Olympe Ricco, can be found in the kitchen. Chef Ricco cooked her way to success in Corsica and France before bringing her native cuisine to Los Angeles. Her thoughtful, freshly prepared plates meld the bold flavors of both France and Italy—take the antipasti mix, for instance, which unites charcuterie and a number of small bites on one plate. The selection of entrees includes rich veal stew with homemade tagliatelle and cannelloni filled with Corsican cheese and fresh herbs, both of which pair nicely with selections from an international wine menu. Beyond dinner, Chef Ricco serves brunches on the weekends and lunchtime sandwiches elegant enough to make any peanut-butter-and-jelly blush.
