The three-hour "A Voyage in Time" Vino Voyage III takes place on Friday, October 5, at 6 p.m. aboard the 19th-century warship Olympia, docked at the Independence Seaport Museum. Attendees sample various Old-World and New-World wines as wine educators offer insights into their subtle differences. Meanwhile, trumpet player Matt Cappy plays live jazz music from atop the cannon-gun turrets as passengers snack on appetizers from Brûlée Catering and pair the wines with specialty cocktails. As the Old City Seaport Festival’s Parade of Boats sets sail against the Philadelphia skyline, the Vino Voyage III concludes by firing one of the Olympia's actual cannons to send the antique ship forward through time once more.

VIP perks include a champagne toast on the top deck, an intimate wine tasting in the admiral's quarters, a selection of desserts, and a souvenir wine holder. For both options, the event requires a dress code of “yachting casual," which calls for flat shoes for women and open-collar shirts for men and shoulder parrots.

Pinot Boutique

Just as the Roman god Bacchus represented both wine and revelry together, Pinot Boutique celebrates wine by—how else?—throwing parties. The staff regularly stages wine-tasting events and hosts events amid the exposed-brick walls in its lower level wine lounge. Upstairs, the shop’s main floor is dedicated for wine tastings and fostering at-home celebrations, twice earning a "Best of Philly" commendation, including the title Best Gift Shop of 2012 from Philadelphia Magazine. The acclaimed boutique displays accessories such as wineglass charms, corkscrews, and picnic gear to complement an exclusive selection of vintage wines and fresh labels from Pennsylvania's Paradocx Vineyards, Harvest Ridge Winery, Pinnacle Ridge Winery, and Auburn Road Winery.

Customer Reviews

This is a great little shop with a really fun atmosphere. The class we had last night was really for super beginners, but its local wines and really laid back. loved it!

Dave was very personable and knowledgable. We liked that all the wines were local wines. We were only going to bring home 1-2 bottles but ended up liking more so bought 6, with 3 more on our list! Great value and a nice way to spend the afternoon We will likely go back for another class soon. My boyfriend is really interested in the beer class in July.
