A Chat with Precision Martial Arts
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Master Calvin Longton, AF CCT Retired and 6th dan Black Belt in HKD has been training in Martial Arts 43 years. He has a 2nd Dan in Krav Maga, a Masters in Religion from Liberty Seminary and has a passion for teaching that is second to none. Our school has been in the same location going on years.
What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
Be patient with yourself. Know that everyone was a beginner. It is important that more advanced students help the newer ones. They were once the new ones too. It helps solidify the techniques in their mind also. You are not putting them out by being new. You are helping them learn too.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Master Longton started Martial Arts at 16 years old and fell in love with it. During his 22 years in the military, he still practiced it everywhere we went. It is his passion and it shows in his teaching technique and the respect he has earned around the world from other Martial Artists.
What do you love most about your job?
That's easy, the Confidence it creates. We've seen all ages come in a bit timid and within months walk out heads up, capable and feeling positive about themselves. We expect a lot of our students and they live up to our expectations. Our Juniors have gone from 42% A/AB honor roll to over 66%.
