At Rumba Cafe, diners split traditional tapas from Venezuela, Colombia, and Peru in a dining room adorned with vibrant hues and paintings by local artists. Couples browse the tapas menu to select a spread of four shareable plates, such as the arepa de pollo, a freshly baked corn cake filled to the extraneous gills with organic chicken, bell peppers, and a dash of house vinaigrette. A Latin American staple, the sweet plantain headlines in the patacon rumba, a house specialty that pairs fried plantains with grilled flank steak. In the zesty tuna ceviche, cool avocado and cucumbers temper the spice of red pepper sauce, habanero peppers, and tuna still furious from waiting two hours at the DMV. Wednesday through Saturday nights, as dining duos sip glasses of house wine or mojitos, live musicians strum their way across Latin America, wooing taste buds with the shoulder-shaking beats of samba, tango, and salsa.

Along with serving tapas and other Latin American-inspired dishes, Rumba Cafe presents samples of Latin American folk cultures through photographs and paintings by local artists, plus other live Latin music. Guests share plates of specialty tapas, such as arepas, empanadas, tostones, and yuca, or can opt for entrees such as the seafood paella or Argentinean meat platters. Daily happy hours at the bar loosen up guests for dance offs later that evening, or just excited seat-dancing with each arrival of more tapas. Warm orange and red walls inform the warm aesthetic of the décor, and dark wood tables offer an elegant stage for dining and drinking.
