The Depot Tavern
Minneapolis music lovers know First Avenue and 7th St Entry as their city's premier venue. Right next door to that self-described "Downtown Danceteria," which has kept ears fed and feet moving since 1970, there's another local institution: The Depot Tavern, where concertgoers go to fuel up between sets. The bar and restaurant offers a First Avenue and 7th St Entry history course on its walls, which are collaged with photos and memorabilia from important shows. And it offers a modern music course in real time, courtesy of the multiple widescreen televisions that broadcast the main room's concert as it unfolds next door.
The Depot enjoys its own identity, too, however, thanks to a menu of gourmet burgers, sandwiches, and hot dogs that earns new legions of fans every day. Applewood smoked bacon and American cheese hide inside the Inside Out burger's half pound of Angus beef, while maple mustard accompanies the diamond corndog, which comes wrapped in pepper bacon. Vegan and vegetarian dishes abound, too, ensuring that no appetite goes unsatisfied.
