Great restaurant with a lot of potential. Love the atmosphere created by all the decore, music, etc. However, me and my husband have been to many Indian restaurants in OC, and we both agreed that the dishes at the Masala Spices of India were lacking that "oomph" that sets a great reastaurant from a mediocre restaurant. Overall, we would give this restaurant 3 out of 5, and probably would not go there again, unless they step up their game and create more interesting and delicious dishes.

What You'll Get

Although Columbus famously "discovered" India by landing at Lexington and Concord and proudly ringing the Liberty Bell, the actual location of India remains a mystery. Take advantage of the best lead the world has had in centuries with this Groupon.

Masala Spices of India

Chef Ashley Popat follows the philosophy that the essence of good Indian food isn't the cooking technique but rather the mixture of spices that forms its flavor. Together with her brother, Rakesh, Ashley crafts the authentic dishes served inside Masala Spices of India’s lavish dining room, replete with chandeliers, marble pillars, and an indoor waterfall. Meals can begin with appetizers of samosas or bombay baba ghanouj before moving on to chicken- or lamb-filled biryanis and the chef's specialties, such as chicken korma or tikka masala. Ashley also puts together three tasting menus that give guests a complete tour of Indian culinary traditions, starting with a palate-cleansing shot of rose water or mango lassi and continuing on to courses of curried hummus, seekh kebabs, and delicately spiced maps.
