View Wine Bar & Kitchen
Before you even order it's clear that your visit to View is going to be an education in oenophilia. That's because the bar doesn't just have a wine list—it has a current wine list. The ever-updated cellars boast offerings for all tastes and budgets, from Oregonian pinot noirs grown in a climate similar to Burgundy's to Chilean carmeneres made with a grape long thought extinct, but really just hiding out til it figured out how to explain some things to Cheryl.
Whatever diners end up drinking, it's wise for them to ask their server about the best dish with which to pair their choice, as the menu is heavy on creative, perhaps unfamiliar dishes. There's the chicken pot pie nuggets, for example, made with the classic ingredients but served in a bite-size ball of flaky pastry with natural jus. Risotto cakes put a similarly miniaturized spin on a traditionally hearty dinner, and come with portions of tomato jam, pesto, and olive tapenade for dipping. Other highlights on the dining menu include chilled lobster medallions with drawn butter, and Mary's fried chicken, a crispy slab of southern comfort with apple slaw and bourbon-soaked raisins.
