Boot-camp classes tone muscles and decrease body fat through an up-tempo blend of resistance, cardio, and military drills. Instructors lead students through exercises that use hand weights, stability balls, agility ladders, and kettlebells. PiYo classes build strength and agility through a combination of pilates and yoga with elements of sports training and dance.

Wendy Shumate, or Wild Wendy as she is sometimes known, is a one-woman wrecking crew when in comes to physical fitness. The proprietress of Wild on Fitness leads sinew-sculpting boot-camp classes in the park by day and quiet, peaceful yoga sessions on the beach. Wendy also works mano a mano with clients through customized personal-training sessions and keeps workouts lively with dance-infused Turbo Kick and hip-hop hustle classes.
