Certified instructor Ahva Halma of Zumba with Ahva leads attendees in hip-swaying Zumba sessions as well as meditative tableaus of yoga poses at Dance Ballroom and Studio. As Latin grooves set pupils and styrofoam perched on the speakers asway, Ahva steers physiques into easy-to-follow dance moves. The infectiously groovy workout shimmies off calories with cardio work to engage muscles and boost heart rates. Alternatively, yoga sessions stretch limbs and torsos into stances that can render the body more flexible, and students practice breath work to determine their dominant lung. Ahva limits her class sizes to 30 students and encourages scheduling in advance to secure a spot. Ahva is a registered nurse in addition to being licensed to teach six types of Zumba.

About Zumba with Ahva
Ahva Halma began her love affair with dance early in life, shortly after trading in her footie pajamas for a tutu and ballet slippers. As a young lady, she made her first foray into the world of Latin movement by studying flamenco, a journey she continues to this day in her Zumba workshops. Ahva’s commitment to sharing the fun and fitness-building benefits of dance led her to earn seven types of Zumba teaching certifications. As a registered nurse, she’s equally enthusiastic about women’s health. This is why Ahva additionally teaches Pilates and yoga courses with an emphasis on pre- and postnatal techniques.
