At the age of 7, Flavio Rivas's father began teaching him the art of tailoring garments. For years now, Flavio has been putting his skills in the spotlight at Newbury Tailoring Company, named Boston's best tailoring shop by Boston magazine in 2012. Rivas and his staff deftly hem shirts, take in dresses, and elongate sleeves to hold twice as many arm-lengths. Over the years, the shop has earned many local press accolades for its transformative needlework. Wrote Boston magazine when comparing them to other tailors, "Only Rivas and company, given a fur-trimmed '60s-era coat that was two sizes too big and six inches too long, came through like champs, producing a glorious brand-new garment."
