Lauren Lasater had just returned to the States after teaching English in Japan for three years when she attended her first sip-and-paint party. She had a great time, but as a military spouse and a trained artist herself, she also saw an opportunity to teach art at each duty station she and her husband are placed! She thought she could duplicate and even improve on the format of the business. Six months after her first party, she kicked off her painting party business, Colors & Cocktails.

Being stationed in Battle Creek but living in Kalamazoo, Lauren collaborated her parties with many of the local wineries, breweries, and local establishments here in Kalamazoo! For the past 4 years, she has been teaching drinkable glassware painting! Artist Lauren or one of our very talented instructors will teach you how to paint 2 one-of-a-kind glasses of your choice, 1 wine bottle with fairy lights, or 1 vase! She provides everything from the 2 glasses (match or mix and match), 1 wine bottle, or 1 vase, paints, palettes, brushes, aprons, and all the tools you'll need to create wonderful masterpieces! All anyone needs to bring is themselves, a few ideas from Google or Pinterest, and wear a pair of clothes they don't mind getting a little paint splatter on. "No prior painting experience is necessary," Lauren says. "We teach and work with each of you individually so you can relax, have fun, and create something you are proud to use!" Your glasses will be dry and ready to take home the same night. Lauren provides a bag and tissue to carry your glasses home safely. Additionally, Lauren provides baking directions so you'll be able to cure your glasses at home! We can't wait to sip, paint, and socialize with you!
