1954 was the final year any regularly scheduled passenger train rode the Ulster & Delaware Railroad, marking the end of an era when the railroad shuttled travelers through the Catskill Mountains. Now owned by The Delaware & Ulster Railroad (DURR), the tracks are used as part of a heritage railway that offers riders a glimpse into the North East's rich railroad history.

• Scenic Round-Trip Train Rides: During these 24-mile excursions between the rural hamlets of Arkville and Roxbury, DURR's knowledgeable staff points out historic sites such as the Round Barn in Halcottsville and the Hubbell Family Farm in Kelly Corners. Rides typically last two hours.
• Rip Van Winkle Flyer: DURR commissions its prized five-car streamliner for tour charters, which typically include seasonal dinners and entertainment. The sleek, throwback train consists of an observation car, tavern lounge, dining car, and vista dome—all built in the '40s and '50s.
