About South Lake Brewing Company
The story of South Lake Brewing Company is your typical dream to reality journey; Chris and Nicole Smith fell in love with home-brewing and dreamed of opening their own brewery in their hometown. But what makes their story different is the backdrop which also provides a key ingredient: a world-famous blue-green lake. Inspired by the beauty, adventure, and community of Lake Tahoe, Chris and Nicole named the company after their hometown and set to work brewing up beers with some of the best water on the planet like these:
Pillow Line Pale Ale: This style-bending beer is hopped generously with El Dorado and Mosaic hops, yet is pleasantly smooth. Flaked oats give this otherwise dry ale a "fluffy" mouthfeel, before fading to notes of macerated tropical fruit salad, honey dew juice, and citrus pith. This beer will remind you of the killer powder days this winter, but is perfect for a beach day on the lake. 5.4% ABV
Fog Nozzle IPA: The Fog Nozzle, with a 6.8% ABV and 35 IBU, is our New England style IPA fermented with an expressive yeast and hopped to the gills with Mosaic, Ekuanot, Simcoe, and Azacca hops. Notes of oatmeal with apricot preserves, pineapple, mango orange juice, and a hint of coniferous forest, make this beer a real treat to quaff. 10% of taproom sales proceeds from the Fog Nozzle will go directly to the Lake Tahoe Fire Academy scholarship fund. 6.8% ABV
Marlette Blonde: This bright and easy blonde contains a slightly sweet taste thanks to its notes of honey, pear, and tangerine. It's medium body and smooth flavors make it ideal for new craft beer drinkers. 5.3% ABV
Angora IPA: An unfiltered modern IPA brewed with oats and white wheat. Hopped with Mosaic, Centennial, and Simcoe throughout. Notes of candied mango, ripe tropical fruits, and damp pine forest. 6.7% ABV
