Near East Yoga Spokane's cozy storefront studio welcomes students of all experience levels to hone their mind-body balance during Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga classes. Studio owner and yoga instructor Charisse Hayes credits the efficient Ashtanga style for enhancing her life physically and otherwise. Having studied in India and the United States, Charisse infuses her personal practice with techniques learned from her overseas mentors as well as experience gained while co-directing a studio in Portland for six years. During classes, Charisse guides students through a sequence of postures that are linked by deep, controlled breaths. The continual movement not only bolsters physical strength and flexibility but also heightens mental focus, self-awareness, and haiku creativity.
