Its a remote trip thru Wild Florida so be prepared to see wildlife up close. Bring bug spray and lots of water. Reccomend a gallon Jug for each boat. Long trip and well worth it. Water is low now(in early April) so full trip with a few stops takes 3 hours. Saw 8 foot aligators, lots of trutles, wood stork with babies and the highlight was a mother manatee and her calf near the rope swings on the lower half of the trip

Great staff and fun on the river. Sometimes they even have love music and food for when you get back from rowing all day. I'll be back for sure!

The Woodlands Studio cabin is lovely and in a nice secluded spot. All the people there are very friendly and helpful--we try to come once a year.

Had a great outing. The outpost had our kayaks and canoes ready on-time, gave clear instructions on what to look for on the trip and were there when we arrived at our destination. They also assisted us in and out of the water and were very friendly.

You can stop at the screened pavilion instead of doing the whole trip. It was wonderful but at our age, we will do only half next time and we will go back. Just beautiful - a great great business with kind helpful employees.

This is a nice leisurely kayaking trip through pretty mangrove scenery. The stream is shallow with a slow current on Jan 12. Pick up point is not obvious based on the map so pay attention to the oral directions and/or bring a cell phone.

From Our Editors

Away from the amusement parks and tourist hotspots Florida is known for, its rivers wind along sandy beaches, wildlife habitats, and lush marshlands. Canoe Outpost's cabin rentals and fleet of kayaks and canoes allow access to these natural attractions, thanks to their steadfast crew which helps paddlers launch into the Little Manatee River. Opportunities to paddle, hike, and arm-wrestle fish pepper the rivers, whose calmer areas allow for cool, refreshing swims.
