Art-drenaline Cafe, Washington

Located inside the Anacostia Art Center, Art-Drenaline Cafe serves up gourmet (and wholesome) farm-to-table creations—from organic charcuterie to handmade quiche—with a side of visual art and community. The founders, themselves Anacostia citizens who care deeply about their neighborhood, opened Art-Drenaline to address local issues surrounding food insecurity and area income disparities. To help do their part, they keep their employment and training opportunities widely available to all. The result: a community of employees and regulars with richly developed skill sets, healthy bodies, and newfound addictions to fresh-fruit or -vegetable smoothies.
