In a big, raftered space that's half barn, half family room, people sit down at checkered tablecloths for two things: smoked meats and fresh jokes. On weekend nights the restaurant transforms into the Comedy Zone, where guests dig into brisket, ribs, and chicken while taking in sets by touring comics. Bookers source the comic talent from outlets such as BET’s Comic View and Comedy Central. The Stock Yard aims to make the entire community feel welcome through initiatives such as helping local comics break into the business and serving a free Thanksgiving dinner for veterans and homeless and elderly neighbors.
