A Booth of Memories
When Skyler and Dianna Blattner got married, everyone at their reception had a blast crowding into a photo booth. The newlyweds came away with fabulous memories, snapshots of their friends, and the itch to start their own business. Today, they give others a chance to indulge in such goofiness and glamour by renting out their own curtain-clad photo booths. As business owners, the Blattners pride themselves on their flexibility, which translates into a seamless party experience for their customers.
Staff members deliver and set up the six-foot-tall booth, whose five square feet are cordoned off in velvet curtains and a host-chosen portrait backdrop. Though equipped with a futuristic touchscreen and a high-res digital camera, the booth is highly portable, designed to be kind to floors and wheelchair accessible, and can even be moved during the party.
When up to 10 party guests enter the booth, they first tap the screen to choose between color and black and white, then don accessories from the props box and grin as four snapshots are taken. Twelve seconds later, a strip emerges, showcasing the shots alone or with custom text and graphics. The quartet of images is printed on archival paper designed to resist water, fingerprints, and marker mustaches. High-res video messages or real-time Internet uploading may be added to a booth-rental package. After the last flash has been dispatched, staffers cart the booth away, back to the grassy field where it grazes when it's not on duty.
