I have to say I was a little disappointed. It wasn't that busy when we went but the food took forever. There was only one waitress and she was great but running around everywhere. The food was disappointing and pricey. The bar itself had seen better days. I can check off this experience and my friend and I remember it for the wrong reasons.

Food is decent, but not remarkable. Had a margarita-it was tart & small for the price. Service was decent, but we didn’t get napkins/silverware until we requested it.

They were out of brisket and were smoking another brisket and when we left, we stunk of smoked meat by the time we left. Had to change & launder clothes, shower, and shampoo when we left. Had a difficult time redeeming the Groupon due to some antiquated system they have of redeeming the Groupons. Thought we'd never get out of there. If you like shredded raw cabbage, this is the place for you. Friendly staff, but never again.

Bar service was slow and the food was horrible. Have been in the past and this place has gone way down hill.

Very good food, its different from most of what you'll find locally. They also have a good selection of beer to choose from, some being local.

About Agave Bar and Taqueria

Five years in San Francisco made an impression on Matt and Kelly Weinberg. They fell in love with the taquerias and craft cocktail bars sprinkled throughout the city, and decided to bring those culinary experiences back to their native Virginia Beach. Now, at Agave Bar and Taqueria, they dish out traditional Mexican street food and and modern smoker inspired recipes along with elegant elixirs from a full bar. Tacos are the star of the show, with proteins such as slow-cooked pork, housemade chorizo, and grilled seasonal fish nestled inside freshly made tortillas.

Meanwhile, under the direction of mixologist Kelly, bartenders infuse tequila with jalapeños to complement the sweetness of margaritas, and they use top-shelf vodkas and whiskeys to make greyhounds and traditional manhattans. The result is a lively scene that deftly balances the casual and the upscale, with an enthusiastic clientele to match.
