For pastry chef Danielle Moore of Annie Mae's Bakery, baking began as a way of spending time with her grandmother, Annie Mae. And it was at her grandmother's side that Danielle learned the science behind baking and of her own passion for creating desserts. As an adult, Danielle now uses these skills—as well as her continued learning of new baking trends—to create chewy cookies, fluffy cakes, and creamy cheesecakes. Her specialty is her cake in a jar, which she serves with only a spoon and a chalkboard label denoting the flavor inside. These cakes come in a variety of flavors, but the most eye-catching is the denim-blue velvet's blend of white frosting and dyed dark-blue cake. For special occasions, Danielle can mold cakes in custom designs suitable for a child's birthday or showing someone what a basketball looks like.
