Beer, like soap, comes in a bar and livens up any shower. Wash your mouth out with this Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of drinks at Banks Street Bar & Grill.
Since 1959, patrons of Banks Street Bar & Grill have tapped feet and bobbed heads along to live music spanning multiple generations of New Orleans talent. Anywhere from one to five bands take the Banks’ stage each night to blast jazz, funk, rock, bus songs, or blues into the early-morning hours, and surprise guests often drop in to jam. Patrons can relax indoors with a choice of domestic or imported beers ($3–$4/bottle) ranging from crisp Bud Lite to creamy Guinness Stout, or they can snuggle beneath the bar's oak trees with a glass of wine ($4–$4.50) or a well ($2.50), call ($4.00), or premium ($5.00) pour. Banks' live tunes soar above the din of conversation and clacking pool balls thanks to a recently installed digital sound system, and guests can sing along while perusing the establishment's decades-old knickknacks—including a collection of guitars made out of Hummel figures and an assortment of vintage vinyl stacked in the bar's jukebox.
Both served to tipplers free of charge, red beans and rice mingle on plates every Monday and BLT sandwiches hit the spot each Wednesday. Banks also regularly hosts weekend crawfish boils and cookouts to energize customers before they head back to work.
