Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center
Rock climbing is exhausting. By the time you get to the top of the wall, you might want nothing more than to let go and fall into a pool of refreshing, crystalline water. Unfortunately, that's not possible at most climbing gyms—but it's a signature attraction at Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center. The park's AquaClimb water wall looms over a pool, beckoning climbers to scale its height and then drop with a splash.
Thrill seekers might also enjoy the enclosed body flume slide—a slippery ride in total darkness that ends with a watery plunge. But if you'd rather relax or reenact Moby–Dick in slow motion, then floating down the 740-foot lazy river in an inner tube might be more your speed. Elsewhere in the family-oriented center are slides and pools for all ages, including a wading pool for toddlers, a lap pool for working out, and a deep well for divers. When you're tired of swimming, head to the shaded concession area for a snack or a kick back in a complimentary lounge chair for a nap.
