The Issue: Limited Resources for Shelter Animals
Of the estimated six to eight million dogs and cats that enter shelters each year in the United States, about three to four million of them are euthanized, according to data from The Humane Society of the United States. Many shelters are overcrowded and don’t have the resources to provide animals with food and medical care for an extended period of time.
The Campaign: Providing Food for Shelter Animals
If 54 people donate $10, then Bay Area Pet Adoptions/SPCA can feed 40 shelter animals for one month. Each additional $540 raised will feed another 40 animals for one month. Bay Area Pet Adoptions/SPCA’s adoption program rescues abandoned or neglected companion animals from kill shelters and individuals, providing them with food and a clean place to sleep until they can find their forever home. The more food Bay Areas Pet Adoptions/SPCA can provide, the more animals it can accept into its adoption program.
