The supportive artisans at Brooklyn People’s Pottery shape clay into attractive forms and functional shapes, leading kids and adults through the motions of shaping vases, ashtrays, and pet-rock cribs. Kids shape forms by hand and take home one piece (to be picked up on a subsequent visit, after firing in the kiln) to glue to their art teacher’s fridge. Children’s classes are available in the ranges of 6 to 10 years and 11 to 17.

Taste of Clay classes teach budding adult sculptors the basic principles of clay crafting on the wheel. For couples and pairs, the class for two brings glasses of effervescent champagne to calm nerves and spark creative spurts as students mold masterpieces.

Customer Reviews

Great class! I would definitely do it again. Thanks!

Give people who come in for one class, like using a Groupon, some examples of what to create like a bowl, a cup, a vase, etc. Free form is fun, but having a goal can help sometimes.
