A Chat with Buckeye Judo
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We teach a style of judo where there’s no striking or kicking. It will build strength, conditioning, respect, and self-defense. There are opportunities for students to compete once their skills develop. We are a nationally sanctioned club; all of our instructors go through background screenings.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
Be relaxed and look forward to have fun while learning.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
The three instructors have each been involved with judo for decades. They love the art, the sport, and passing that passion on to others.
What do you love most about your job?
We really love teaching the art of judo; once learned, it doesn’t leave a person. Skills may diminish with time, but with practice and time, these skills become a part of the student. As that happens, the art starts to reflect the person’s style of judo (as opposed to the teacher’s).
