About Crossfit Portland
The word "community" is written prominently across the wall inside Crossfit Portland, the first CrossFit gym in Oregon, and for good reason. According to trainer Sean, that word is "the magic potion for the gym." "Community is the thing that makes it accessible," he says in a video profiling the gym and its close-knit family of coaches and members. In addition to creating a place where everyone feels welcome, Crossfit Portland's members help each other get through a hard Workout of the Day by offering encouragement and cheering each other on like they just solved an entire New York Times crossword puzzle without Google.
Of course the coaches help everyone, too, and they work closely with each person to find the right program after assessing their mobility and other skills. The program options include Jump Start for beginners, Crossfit 201 for intermediate exercisers, and personal training for those with more nuanced goals.
