Choose from Three Options

  • $45 for a Glass Fusing & Slumping class for one (up to a $175 value)
  • $89 for a Glass Fusing & Slumping class for two (up to a $350 value)
  • $199 for a private Glass Fusing & Slumping party for up to six (up to a $1,050 value)

During each three-hour workshop, students use stainless-steel and ceramic molds to create an original vase or dish. First, they'll study how heat from kiln transforms the glass. Then, they'll create the essential form by cutting a flat sheet of glass, and use cold-working techniques, such as grinding, sanding, and sawing, to shape interesting edges and enamels, or add color with glass shapes. Finally, heat from a 1,300-degree glass kiln will transform their decorative glass sheet into a one-of-a-kind vase or dish. The work will be ready for pickup the following day, after it's cooled, or it can be shipped for an additional fee. For a complete schedule of dates and times, click here.

Tending fires of 1,300 degrees, the artisans of Designs by Sylvanye Glass Studio create jewelry, glass art, and dishware from molten materials. Their students, who range from aged 8 to adult, learn to use cutting systems, grinding equipment, and designing tools as they build their own pieces in a safe and supportive environment.

For inspiration or purchase, shelves and shelves of luminescent custom designs inhabit the studio's gallery and workspaces. The school also keeps independent artisans supplied with innovative products, including the pint-size MicroKiln, designed for use in a standard microwave oven.
