Running of the Beef
Every July in Pamplona, Spain, hundreds of thrill-seekers test their mettle against a small herd of fiery cattle in the Running of the Bulls. Cook Out NYC decided to take the best parts of the festivities (the fun, the cattle) and leave out the risks (actually encountering a bull) to offer the Big Apple a taste of the excitement. At Running of the Beef, some of the city’s finest chefs, including barbecue master Robbie Richter, present their take on Spanish and Spanish-inspired dishes using grass-fed beef. Attendees will get a chance to dig into familiar grill fare such as steak and brisket, as well as some unique offerings including Harry Hawk’s Spanish Schnack burgers. Bites can be paired with sips of Spanish craft beer, as well as kalimotxo, a blend of red wine and cola, and sidra, Spain’s take on cider. The whole festival is capped off with flamenco dancers, thumping Spanish disco music, and a mock bull run.
