Live theater tends to be more thrilling than film, largely due to the heightened odds of seeing someone flub a line or deliver a stirring monologue while sitting in your lap. Witness truly dramatic close-ups with this GrouponLive deal.

Picking Up Sticks
Local playwright Lil Barcaski opens the fast-paced Picking Up Sticks on a Saturday morning, with a detective interviewing a young married couple whose four-year-old daughter has gone missing. The girl was last seen the night before, in the thick of the couple's weekly party. While unraveling the mystery, Barcaski injects humor into the queasy uncertainty, using the interview as a platform to launch into family tensions and themes of love, loss, and commitment.
Gypsy Stage Repertory
Gypsy Stage Repertory's troupe takes its name to heart. A traveling band of thespians, the company focuses on acting and directing, keeping the sets simple and mobile in order to travel from place to place without wasting time or having to reassemble a full-scale pyramid replica on each stage. The result is a collection of artists who draw the audience in with their concentrated performance, whether putting on a classic by Neil Simon, a new work from Amy and David Sedaris, or a piece by local writer and Gypsy artistic director Lil Barcaski.
