What You’ll Do
Learn the tools of the “Maker Movement” during workshops packed with live lectures and demos. In their three-event “Maker’s Series,” the team at HoneyPoint3D explains the technology behind their advanced machines, which look downright space-age at first glance. 3D printers add layer upon layer of material to create three-dimensional objects as simple as a cookie cutter or as complex as a new product prototype. Laser cutter and CNC machines cut and carve, while CAD modeling takes makers from idea to model.
Each event is suitable for ages 7 and up and includes refreshments and a DIY holiday-inspired craft project.
Choose from the following workshops:
Makerspace Event (10 a.m.–12 p.m.)
Find out what the Maker Movement is all about and see the tools of the trade in action, with explanations from experts. Then, enjoy refreshments and craft a Halloween-inspired ornament with materials made from some of the equipment you just saw in action. While touring the exclusive Makerspace, you’ll get a peek at tools including laser cutters, a CriCut cutter, CNC machines, and more.
3D CAD Modeling Workshop (2–4 p.m.)
Begin your experience with a thorough lecture on 3D CAD from Autodesk experts, powered by Autodesk’s Fusion 360 software. You can bring your own laptop to follow along (there will also be a few available to borrow). Then, watch fellow guests stand on a human turntable to can be scanned into a 3D model. Last, craft a Halloween-inspired ornament with materials made from some of the equipment in the makerspace as you munch on refreshments.
This event features a more in-depth exploration of 3D CAD and Autodesk’s Fusion 360 software.
3D Printing Event (5:30–7:30 p.m.)
Dive into an in-depth 3D printing experience guided by experts from HoneyPoint 3D, who run some of the few 3D printing shops in the country. Watch a printer create a three-dimensional object layer by layer, then listen to a lecture and participate in a Q&A. Last, create a Halloween-inspired ornament made with materials from the makerspace as you much on refreshments.
This event is a more in-depth exploration of 3D printing.
