Into the Woods, Jr.
The lives of fairy-tale favorites intertwine in Into the Woods, Jr., a kid-friendly take on Stephen Sondheim’s fractured fable. Youngsters meet Jack before he climbs up the beanstalk, learn why Cinderella wants to attend the king’s party, find out who packed Red Riding Hood’s lunch—and what they all have in common with a certain wicked witch. At the center of the story are the baker and his wife, whose wish to have a child sends them on a life-changing journey where, for once, no one gets turned into a frog.
Artisan Center Theater
Thanks to its stage’s in-the-round seating, Artisan Center Theater keeps audiences close to the action. But they can get even closer by helping create the shows they love. That’s because, true to its mission of enriching the community, Artisan relies on local volunteers to bring its family-friendly productions to life, from The Scarlet Pimpernel to a kids’ version of Into the Woods. Should any youngsters discover a love of treading the boards, they can even enroll in Artisan Academy to sharpen their acting, dancing, and piano-juggling skills, or audition for Artie’s Playhouse, which stages interactive plays written for and starring children.
