What You’ll Do
Home-brew master Chris Strait will walk you through the basics of brewing kombucha: a fizzy, fermented tea known for its probiotic properties. Inside the headquarters of Kombucha Brooklyn, he’ll teach the basics of brewing, bottling, and second fermentation, empowering you to create your own kombucha at home. A live brewing demo models the proper procedure, and you’ll sip on samples as you learn.
Learn the Basics of Brewing
Chris discusses the basics of kombucha brewing and demonstrates the process live, with help from the class.
You’ll sample fine teas and finished kombucha to help you learn how everything should taste.
Take Home a Growler
At the end of the class, you’ll leave with a freshly poured 32oz. amber growler of Kombucha Brooklyn’s on-tap kombucha.
At its liquid heart, Kombucha Brooklyn is a mom-and-pop operation headed by Jessica and Eric Childs. Based in the old Pfizer Building, their team brews high-quality kombucha imbued with healthful probiotics, using mostly fair-trade, organic, and local ingredients. Their fizzy drinks and home-brew kits have stirred up buzz in press outlets including Marie Claire, Time Out New York, and The Kitchn.
