The event will be held at a Jamaica Plain residence. The exact address will be shared after purchase.

What You'll Do

Making your own fruit preserves requires a delicate balance of science, seasonal produce, and a touch of creative flair. Learn about a variety of preserving techniques such as drying and pickling, and what differentiates jellies, jams, and curds alongside Leah Waldo, an expert with over five years of canning experience. Snack on tea and homemade shortbread jam cookies before rolling up your sleeves to process seasonal produce, such as blood oranges or Meyer lemons, and cook and jar the fruits of your labor.

Some of Leah Waldo’s earliest memories are of waiting in the kitchen alongside her sisters to taste test of her mother’s famous chocolate chip cookies. Her passion for food grew into a lifelong affair, and today, Leah runs the blog “Seasons from Scratch” along with her business, Sweet Bea’s Homemade Cakes. For the last five years, she’s also delved into the world of canning and preserving, and her creative recipes have garnered her much acclaim, including winning contests in magazines like Kentucky Monthly.
