Recently retired American powerhouse and Grand Slam champion Andy Roddick faces off against 19-year-old wunderkind Jack Sock, winner with Melanie Oudin of the 2011 US Open mixed-doubles tournament, as part of the Match for a Cure. Symbolizing a changing of the guard, the match sets yesteryear's superstar against an up-and-comer of American tennis, showcasing experience against youth and being old enough to rent a car versus being too young to rent a car. These tennis stars will battle it out to help raise awareness for the fight against cancer and support the Connecticut Children's Medical Center and the Miracle Match Foundation.
Miracle Match Foundation, established in 1997, was founded by former tennis professional Bill Przbysz. Diagnosed with acute monocytic leukemia in 1995, Przbysz's tennis hopes were dashed until 1999, when he was granted the chance to play against former tennis professional and Grand Slam winner John McEnroe. He has since dedicated his time to allow others the same opportunity. At the match, Przbysz will face Roddick as well as Grand Slam women's doubles winner Gigi Fernandez.
