What You'll Do
When a juggler seems to defy physics by keeping five bowling pins simultaneously in the air, or a clown seems to be constantly at the mercy of gravity as he trips and stumbles, it's to the delight of audiences young and old. But such showmanship doesn't arrive over night. Russ Sharek and his merry Circus Freaks break the performance ice for students, giving hands-on primers on conditioning drills, juggling tricks, and the principles behind slapstick and improv.
Circus Arts Practice
Work directly with some of the area's top clowns and circus pros to learn tricks of the trade.
Meet Fellow Circus Aficionados
Training takes place during Circus Freaks' weekly Clown Gym, where attendees gather to practice their favored arts.
Invitation to Return
At the workshop's end, you'll be invited to join the free open gym for future practice.
Director and Lead Performer, CircusFreaks
Russ Sharek brings the circus to the streets. A graduate of the prestigious New York Goofs Clown School and founder of Dallas's Circus Freaks, he expands the performance arts beyond the tent, always with the air of what the Dallas Observer describes as an "impish Cabaret version of Rasputin." Dedicated to taking the spirit of live performance as far as he can, he also hosts open-stage nights for fledgling performers and all-ages workshops in miming and clownery.
