A Chat with Greg Allison Strings Studio
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Greg Allison is a multi-instrumentalist and teacher who performs in a wide variety of styles. He has used his classical violin training as a springboard for learning about improvising, jazz, world music traditions. He is a scholarship recipient and graduate of The Berklee College of Music.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
Students must have an instrument. I provide lots of printed and digital audio material, though it is possible that students may want to work out of books, in which case they would need to be purchased.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Music is the universal language that, when tapped into, illuminates the joys of life and opens the doors of opportunity. When we study and play music, we are cultivating our curiosity and wonder of the world and are gaining a confidence to be expressive, creative, entrepreneurial, and playful.
What do you love most about your job?
I love one-on-one interactions and I love to see my students grow and gain confidence through the study of music. I've always held my teachers in high regard; it is because of them that I am able to be a musician today. I want to share that opportunity for joy with all who are open to receive it.
