Flowers herald both the arrival of spring and new romance, all without the panic caused by sounding the city's love siren. Master the language of petals with today’s Groupon: for $79, you get a three-hour flower-arranging class at Chicago School of Flower Design (a $200 value).
Chicago School of Flower Design's pedagogues instruct fledgling florists in the art of botanical design during three-hour hands-on classes. Customers can learn up to 24 different styles of floral art, how to build beautiful arrangements, and how pouring a bag of flour into a flowerpot can yield either a flower or pita bread. Using the materials and flowers provided, small classes of 8–10 artisans dabble in American, European, and bridal design styles and craft three designs with the help of an experienced instructor. Pupils determine how to make their bunches look professionally designed and glean tips on how to select the best grocery-store flowers. Blossom buffs get to take home each of their verdant masterpieces and should bring along a large shopping bag in which to safely whisk them home.
