At The Music Story, people flex their larynxes in front of friends, coworkers, and other music lovers inside one of eight private party rooms or in a contemporary karaoke lounge. Before shuffling into a private room, saunter through the dimly lit lounge whose clear walls encase bright lasers that bounce off colorful vinyl records. Throats lubricate for soaring high notes with sips of bottled beer, such as Amstel Light and Sapporo, or bottled liquor, such as Absolut vodka, before the dirge of an empty stomach is muted by performance-fueling snacks, including fried dumplings and mozzarella sticks. Evening entertainers read lyrics off flat-screen TVs and pour melodies into a silver-boxed microphone while singing songs from a catalog of tunes that is updated monthly, as often as the man in the moon shaves.

Private party rooms also come equipped with personal intercom systems, allowing guests to order drinks without leaving the festivities, while on-hand tambourines help keep the beat or serve as a jangly bracelet for a giant. The Music Story’s attentive staff offers a bottle-storage service, which keeps patrons unfinished liquor safely stored for up to one month postpartying.
