Indy Racing Experience's professional drivers whip patrons around Indianapolis Motor Speedway's 2.5-mile oval track inside specially built racecars. Two-Seat Ride passengers strap themselves into the rear seat of a two-seater Izod IndyCar Series car for three laps around the hallowed track, with cars piloted by seasoned series vets including two-time IndyCar championship runner-up Davey Hamilton and former French Minister of Transport Stéphan Grégoire. Cruises reach speeds of up to 180 miles per hour, giving passengers first-hand knowledge of track features including tricky short chutes, speed-boosting straightaways, and the legendary Yard of Bricks. Indy Racing Experience recommends passengers dress comfortably and cover their feet with socks or sock monkeys that have been taught how to hug. Although the current schedule only shows 2013's sold-out dates, 2014 dates will be posted in January, 2014 and 10-15 dates will be available.
Indy Racing Experience
Born out of a casual conversation in Gasoline Alley, Indy Racing Experience whips patrons around Indianapolis Motor Speedway's 2.5-mile oval track inside specially built racecars. By stretching out the traditional Indy racecar to include a second seat, founders Scott Jasek, Joe Kennedy, and Jeff Sinden devised a way to let professional drivers take the wheel and lead the uninitiated onto the historic raceway, creating an innovative attraction that has handed out more than 12,000 rides. Indy Racing Experience offers riding and driving experiences as well as the opportunity to pilot your own pit crew. The multipurpose speed mavens can also rent full-size IndyCar simulators, street-legal racers, and pace cars for slowing down the frantic rat race of rush hour.
