Lin's Wonderland Tearoom
Forget stuffy English gardens: Lin's Wonderland Tearoom invites guests to gather for birthday parties, baby showers, and informal lunches in a Taiwanese tea room that takes decor cues from both Alice in Wonderland and Rilakkuma, a popular Japanese teddy-bear character. The white room is accented with bright pops of pastels, including cushy booths and couches, while chalkboard walls present colorful quotes and list menu items such as specialty drinks with names like Mad Hatter. Cuddly teddy bears abound around the room, but the cafe can also be decorated to suit the theme of any party, from a Frozen or Minions-themed event to a traditional party celebrating a baby's first 100 days.
Around the room, customers perch while sipping green, black, or milk tea from dainty china cups. But just as important to the tea ceremony are the bite-sized sandwiches and sweets, which come on a multi-tiered tray. These include scones, petit fours, and chicken-salad, lobster, and cucumber sandwiches. Meanwhile, diners who want more substantial fare can opt for plates of warm pasta, pressed paninis, and healthful salads. There are also less traditional, yet no less delicious, plates of nachos, garlic fries, and popcorn-chicken nuggets, while fruit smoothies and slushies are available for uber patriots who've eschewed tea since the Boston Tea Party.
