Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art which focuses on blending with an attack in order to neutralize it. Instead of strength, strikes, and force, Aikido emphasizes movement, technique, and balance. Classes at Midwest Aikido Center include men and women from all walks of life, ages 6 to over 70. As new members, students will pair more experienced Aikidoists, fostering a dynamic and varied approach to learning the martial art.
Midwest Aikido Center
The Midwest Aikido Center, a large dojo with more than 4,000 square feet of mat space, is located in the North Center neighborhood and focuses on the Japanese martial art of aikido. Unlike other techniques which incorporate force and attack methods, aikido uses movement and balance to neutralize and defend. The dynamic training program teaches self-defense and control as well as varied approaches to this unique discipline, with classes available that span all ages.
