Photographs provide the only evidence that the past existed, aside from the outdated swear words used by grandparents, such as “huckster” and “aw, chestnuts.” Make history with this Groupon.

- $59 for a three-hour digital-photography workshop (a $248 value)

Workshops will take place on February 16 and 24 at Ledo Pizza in a private room. The two-hour workshop will run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., and after a brief break, the third hour will continue until 3:30 p.m. Attendees will need to arrive by 11:30 a.m. for registration, and although outside food and beverages are not permitted, they are available for purchase at the restaurant.

During the first two hours of the workshop, students will gain a better understanding of such crucial photography concepts as shutter speed, aperture, white balance, depth of field, and light metering. The goal is for students to learn how their camera thinks. In the third hour, students improve their artistic eye and picture-taking skills.

If the main objective of the glamour photographer is to make the model look attractive, there are probably more challenging subjects than Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera—but that doesn't mean David Blecman is complaining. The Positive Negatives founder and longtime shutterbug—he was named the photo editor of his county newspaper before his 20th birthday more than 30 years ago—has a history of plucking these plum gigs, having snapped pictures of celebrities such as Jimmy Buffett and Gene Simmons and worked for commercial clients including Sears, JCPenney, and Bath & Body Works.
At his studio, Blecman applies his skills toward shooting everything from headshots for models and actors to portraits of kids and teens. He also shares his expertise during workshops that cover both photography and modeling, so students can know what it feels like to be on both sides of a lens without giving their neighbors a turn with the binoculars.

“For #2 there needs to be a 'Didn't know about this business' option. Have already recommended this business to friends. Great workshop.”
“David Blecman was professional and provided lots of resources in his presentation on how to use your digital camera. Time was well spent.”
