Set within a certified historic building, Comus Inn at Sugar Loaf Mountain creates elegant dining experiences in a country-inn setting. Surrounded by the rustic stylings of the inn, parties tuck into entrees of raw oysters, grass-fed ribeye, or hickory-rub grilled salmon. The bistro specializes in understated gourmet flourishes, brining the pork chops in South Mountain Creamery buttermilk, for example, or topping Maryland crab cakes with Old Bay sweet corn beurre blanc. All the while, natural light streams in through the sunroom windows—pairing evening meals with breathtaking sunsets that infuse the region’s idyllic pines with a blazing orange glow.

Kudos to the chef and staff at the Comus Inn! Aided and abetted Sunday evening by a gorgeous sunset over Sugarloaf Mountain through the panoramic window view overlooking the scenery below! Service was friendly, knowledgeable and timely. All our choices for the evening were excellent, starting with several specialty cocktails ( a pear martini and a rhubarb aperol spritz) and our appetizers (raw oysters, and the fried green tomatoes with lump crab ravigote). We enjoyed a 'spicy' Zinfandel with the substantial virtually all meat Maryland Crab cake accompanied by a perfect black-eyed pea, green pea, fresh corn and carrot vegetable medley, and the Gumbo in which shrimp, andouille, and catfish were nicely presented in an wonderfully seasoned thick sauce with just the right bite! We finished with a warm peach cobbler.
