The Little Dipper Durham
The Little Dipper pays homage to the traditional Swiss culinary art of fondue, but does so using ingredients native to North Carolina. That much is clear even from the first course, the classic cheese fondue. The course consists of fresh fruits and veggies as well as gourmet bread from local bakery Loaf, but the flavor profiles are inspired by international foods, with options such as tuscan sun-dried tomato fondue with three Italian cheeses and baja cheddar ignited with habanero fire sauce.
For the second course, guests cook their choice of meats, veggies, and other non-minerals in one of six cooking styles. Perhaps the most popular part of the meal is the selection of 15 homemade sauces for dipping—there's everything from thai peanut and asian ginger to honey barbecue and creamy horseradish. Everything is available prix fixe or a la carte, including a dessert course of chocolate fondue. Thanks to this indulgent menu and the convivial atmosphere, Little Dipper was named one of the area's Top 10 Must-Try Restaurants by The Culture Trip.
