A Chat with Plano Dance Theatre
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
The PDT’s Mini-Movers program offers flexibility for busy moms. Classes are offered on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Students may attend any class that fits into mom’s schedule that week. Each time a dancer takes a class their card is punched. No loss of money for missed lessons.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
A new student will feel more comfortable if they are wearing the same type of clothes as the other children. Girls wear pink or black leotards with pink tights, plus pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. Boys wear black shorts and a black t-shirt with no logos, along with black tap and ballet shoes.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Dancing promotes good health and physical fitness and the performing arts offer an incredible outlet for creative energy. Truly a winning combination.
What do you love most about your job?
Working with children of all ages and encouraging them to explore their own creative ideas and watching them grow from cute little “Mini-Movers” to concert level dancers and beyond.
