Shark Speedboat Thrill Ride
On the front of the Shark Speedboat, the face of a great white opens its maw wide to reveal the dagger teeth within. This, of course, can be taken two ways: either the shark is preparing to attack the New York Harbor or it's perpetually screaming at how fast it's going. Both seem rather likely, though. As the boat blurs past ferries, barges, and tugboats around the tip of Manhattan on a full-fledged adventure, it hits speeds of up to 33 knots while on board more than 100 passengers soak up the boat's spray (especially those in the Splash Zone) as well as views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Staten Island Ferry, and One World Trade Center—all narrated by a knowledgeable guide and accompanied by music. But there's more to these tours than the thrill and excitement. In less than half an hour, passengers make it to the Statue of Liberty and back, docking briefly at Lady Liberty's feet to snap a few photos.
