What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Scott says he had what the author Michael Gerber, in his E-Myth books, calls an "entrepreneurial seizure." "I had enough," Scott says. "Enough of the day-to-day grind of working more and more and having nothing to show for it. I was just surviving. And I wanted more. I knew I could have more. So I told my old employer what they could do with their job and they fired me two days later. I have been living -- thriving -- ever since."
What do you love most about your job?
Scott feels strongly that he needs to be a role model for the clients he works with. Subsequently working as a life coach has inspired him to be more and achieve more than he had ever thought possible. "It's not that clients look to model their life after me," says Graham. "And it's not that I hold out my life choices and decisions and a road map for a client to follow." "It's that I would feel like a complete hypocrite if I didn't step up to the plate in all areas of my life while encouraging clients to do that," Graham continues. "If I encourage clients to take 5 weeks vacation, I have to make sure I take 7. If I encourage clients to live a life of financial prudence, I have to be sure I am debt free and accumulating wealth. If I encourage clients to work things out with their spouse and communicate effectively, I have to be sure I am committed to and working on my marriage. So helping my clients be better helps me be better." Judging from his accomplishments since launching True Azimuth, LLC in 2006, it must be true. Since starting his business Scott has completed Tough Mudders, half- and full-marathons, launched a successful bar / restaurant, launched a successful animal rescue, hiked the GR20 (rated as the toughest long-distance hiking trek in Europe), hiked the entire Long Trail (270 miles), became a Distinguished Toastmaster, ACE-certified Health Coach, NFPT Personal Trainer, QuickBooks Pro Advisor, Rostered Psychotherapist, and Ordained Minister. Scott has successfully published 8 books (available through Amazon.com) covering topics from social media to growing Good King Henry to building your bucket list. In his "free time" Scott completed training in interior firefighting as well as Emergency Medicine and now volunteers as an EMT. Currently, Scott is working toward his H2 Hang Gliding license.
