About Urban Mediamakers Film Festival
The Urban Mediamakers is a not-for-profit consortium of digital content creators offering year-round creative and technology training classes. Annually the organization hosts the four-day Urban Mediamakers Film Festival showcasing independent animations, features, shorts, documentaries, music videos, commercials, web/TV series and mobile apps created by artists from around the world. In addition to having their creations presented and judged, content creators can learn from discussions and classes led by industry professionals. Past presentations and workshops have covered topics such as acting, digital filmmaking, such as turning independent books into films, building a brand through social media, and developing a compelling story that can invoke thought and positive change. Beyond the premiers and presentations, the film festival also hosts an awards ceremony and Videopalooza, a showcase for youth filmmakers.
