  • For $29, you get a three-hour trail ride (a $65 value).<p>

Wolfshohl Horse Training strengthens the human-equine bond with patient instruction and fun, relaxing rides. Upon arrival, equestrians are matched with a suitable ride chosen from a barn where champion show horses toss their laureled manes, then saddle up with the assistance of friendly staff. After spending a few moments at home base getting comfortable on horseback and figuring out where the glove box is, a group of about 14 riders will file out into a gently rolling wilderness for an easy one-hour ramble over scenic terrain. Riders opting for the three-hour jaunt can tote their own lunch and nosh during a rest stop in a bosky glen. Rides head out between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays and by appointment on weekends; call ahead to make your reservation.

About Wolfshohl Horse Training

The round sun teeters on the barn's gable roof, threatening to roll right down. In a quick burst of wind, leaves begin clapping, as if in response to the equestrians trotting regally past. A smaller group of 10 riders wait patiently as guides corral a posse of good-natured horses, who toss their manes and lift their hooves with the joy of motion on a woodland trail ride past Wolfshohl Horse Training's gardens. Downwind, an individual lesson has a skilled trainer versing a 5-year-old about tack, grooming, and the techniques involved in English and Western riding styles. After patrons dismount at trail's end, they can question guides about holding a special event, boarding a pony, or the uncertain ramifications of using a lucky horseshoe to break a mirror.
